Donald Trump has become such a weakling, he’s even being blackmailed by lame duck Jeff Sessions

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

No one in all of politics is more of a lame duck than Jeff Sessions. His own boss Donald Trump has publicly and repeatedly tried to humiliate him into resigning. No one wants him on the job. He’s only still there because Congress won’t allow Trump to fire him, as it would set off a chain of events that might enable Trump to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. But now it turns out there’s one person in politics who’s become an even lamer duck than Sessions – and that’s Trump himself.

In fact, Jeff Sessions – despite being a lame duck who only has his job due to a fluke of a technicality – now feels emboldened enough to blackmail Donald Trump into doing his bidding. Sessions has only refused to resign because he loves being able to use his Attorney General position to carry out viciously racist policy. But now he’s turned that on his head, telling Trump that he refuses to defend DACA in court (link). This has forced Trump to end the program in order to appease Sessions, while doing it on a delay so that Congress can step in and override him on it.

We’ve now reached the point where Jeff bleeping Sessions of all people is able to blackmail Donald Trump into major policy decisions. Sure, Trump could tell Sessions to defend DACA or he’s fired. Except, no, Trump can’t fire Sessions because Congress has made clear it won’t allow Trump to appoint a replacement, because Sessions’ replacement would fire Mueller. Things are now so double crossed that Sessions and Congress are now blackmailing Trump in opposite directions on the same issue. No wonder his decision – a six month delay – is cowardly vomit.

This is what happens when an infamous career criminal runs for office and receives no scrutiny by the media or by his own party leadership during that run. Donald Trump has gotten himself into office, but he’s too vulnerable to govern. He’s not even able to make his own decisions. He’s being blackmailed by Vladimir Putin. He’s being blackmailed by Congress. And now he’s even being blackmailed by his own Keebler elf of an Attorney General.
