No one showed up: the audience at Donald Trump’s inauguration is even tinier than his hands

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

What would happen if you threw a party and almost no one showed up? Just ask Donald Trump, because he’s in the process of finding out. Last night he hosted an inaugural concert whose crowd was so tiny that it was a mere 2.5% as large as the crowd which Barack Obama had drawn to his own inaugural concert. And today, for the swearing in ceremony, attendance is so poor that it looks like a ghost town.

Take a look at this screen capture photo taken by Deadspin Editor Timothy Burke, which he pulled directly from the ABC News live stream at 11:12am eastern time:

Cable news broadcasts are showing the crowd in the bleachers to be full. But when it comes to the National Mall behind the bleachers, it’s a desolate wasteland. The crowd for Donald Trump’s inauguration today has ended up being as tiny as his tiny hands.
