Brett Kavanaugh is an asshole
Senate Judiciary Committee hearings began today for Brett Kavanaugh, an unqualified Supreme Court nominee who was chosen for corrupt reasons by an illegitimate president. Considering that Donald Trump chose Kavanaugh for the sole purpose of trying to keep himself out of prison, it’s not at all surprising that Kavanaugh’s record reveals him to be an unethical extremist. But during his hearings, Kavanaugh also revealed that he’s – how can we say this politely – an asshole.
Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was murdered in the Parkland shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, was in attendance at today’s hearings. During a break he introduced himself to Brett Kavanaugh and extended his hand outward for a handshake. Kavanaugh looked directly at Guttenberg, but then flat out refused to shake his hand. So now we have a guy on the verge of becoming a Supreme Court Justice who’s such a partisan prick on behalf of the criminal Trump’s regime and the gun lobby, he won’t even shake the hand of someone who lost a child to gun violence. Guttenberg posted this tweet about the incident: “Just walked up to Judge Kavanaugh as morning session ended. Put out my hand to introduce myself as Jaime Guttenberg’s dad. He pulled his hand back, turned his back to me and walked away. I guess he did not want to deal with the reality of gun violence.” So it’s clear that Guttenberg wasn’t acting confrontational toward Kavanaugh, and didn’t say anything that should have caused a decent human being to refuse a handshake.
Donald Trump’s White House is already lying about the incident, claiming that Kavanaugh didn’t know who Guttenberg was, and that security somehow prevented from shaking his hand. But Guttenberg fired right back at that lie: “I was here all day and introduced by Senator Feinstein. No security involved. He turned and walked away.” In case we didn’t say it clearly enough the first time around, this guy is an ASSHOLE. There’s no other word in the English language that properly describes what just transpired here. He’s not fit to so much as hold a low level job where he might have to occasionally interact with customers, let alone a job on the Supreme Court.
