Days after James Comey’s firing, FBI carries out raid on Republican Party fundraising firm in Annapolis

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After Donald Trump summarily fired FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday to try to fend off the bureau’s investigation into him, we predicted that the blowback against Trump would be fast and furious. Based on a report from a local NBC News affiliate in Maryland of a raid in progress, that pushback may already be underway.

The news comes by way of WBAL reporter Jayne Miller, who posted the following information just moments ago: “FBI confirms agents are executing a search warrant at the office of GOP Fundraiser/Consulting firm in Annapolis” (link). That’s the extent of what she’s revealed thus far. But considering that this is coming from a reporter at a local NBC station, this has to be considered reliable information. So what does it mean?

It’s not a given that today’s FBI raid is a direct result of Comey’s firing, or even that it’s part of the its ongoing investigation into the Donald Trump campaign. But it would be a remarkable coincidence if the FBI just happens to be raiding a Republican Party fundraising firm a mere thirty-six hours after Trump fired Comey. And as Palmer Report has previously reported (link), there has been intel community chatter for the past month that GOP leaders Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell have been caught up in Trump’s Russia scandal.

Palmer Report has conducted a cursory check and found multiple Republican Party fundraising firms based in Annapolis, so it’s not yet clear which one has been raided; we’ll continue to research the connections each of those firms may have had to the Donald Trump campaign. There is obviously more to come on this story. Help fund Palmer Report
