Paul Anka cancels his planned “My Way” performance at Donald Trump inauguration

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump, who lost the presidential election by nearly three million votes but is set to take office anyway, can’t seem to win when it comes to his inauguration plans either. After being turned down by a who’s who of popular musicians who don’t want to be associated with his divisive inaugural, Trump finally settled on Canadian crooner Paul Anka, who wrote the Frank Sinatra hit “My Way.” But as it turns out, Anka is now canceling on Trump as well.

Almost immediately after the Paul Anka performance was publicly announced, he decided to back out of it. Anka is telling TMZ that it’s due to family commitments related to a custody battle, and with an excuse that specific, he may indeed be legitimately backing out for personal reasons. But it comes at a time when everyone else in the music business is turning Trump down or canceling on him because they don’t want to be associated with what he stands for.

At this point Donald Trump has been turned down by everyone from Elton John to Garth Brooks to Andrea Bocelli to Celine Dion — and now Jennifer Holliday has backed out after being announced.

That means Trump is settling for Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down as his headliners. So much for doing it “My Way.”
