McDonald’s tweets insults at Donald Trump, says it wants President Obama back

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s fairly common to see various Twitter users hurling insults at Donald Trump, condemning his abhorrent nature, making fun of his physical attributes, and comparing him negatively to President Obama. But it was a bit eye popping to see that kind of commentary being tweeted today by the official verified Twitter account belonging to McDonald’s.

And yet this tweet very much happened today:

The tweet in question read “You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have Barack Obama back, also you have tiny hands.” It was, not surprisingly, later deleted. McDonald’s then went on to tweet the following explanation: “Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this. Based on our investigation, we have determined that our Twitter account was hacked by an external source. We took swift action to secure it, and we apologize this tweet was sent through our corporate McDonald’s account.”

Although McDonald’s is not acknowledging as much, these kinds of incidents most often happen when a corporation’s social media manager inadvertently tweets something from the corporate account that was intended to have been tweeted from a personal account. For instance, earlier this year IHOP tweeted something inappropriate about Hillary Clinton and then later apologized, claiming that it had also been compromised.
