Fifth accuser: Brett Kavanaugh allegedly committed sexual assault on a boat in Rhode Island [updated]
Barely an hour ago, reports emerged that the U.S. Senate was investigating a report that Brett Kavanaugh drunkenly and sexually assaulted a woman outside of a bar in 1998. Now we’re learning that the Senate is investigating a fifth accusation. This time around the allegation is that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman on a boat in Rhode Island in in 1985.
The accusation has been brought to the Senate by the woman’s male friend, who says that the woman identified them as “Brett and Mark” โ a possible reference to Kavanaugh’s friend Mark Judge, who has also been implicated in multiple other Kavanaugh sexual assault accusations. According to CBS News, the male friend claims that he and another friend then physically confronted Brett and Mark, leaving them with “significant injuries.”
In other words, if this story is true, it means that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted yet another woman, and then he got beaten up for it. This would raise several questions about whether Kavanaugh sought treatment for his injuries, if there is a medical record of this, and if other witnesses saw him in this condition. It also adds to a stunning list of allegations against Kavanaugh, which now includes sexual assault, attempted rape, and participating in gang rape parties.
This comes even as the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee apparently still plan to hold public hearings tomorrow, in which just one of Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers โ Dr. Christine Blasey Ford โ will be allowed to testify against him. This saga keeps taking darker turns, and the stakes keep growing higher, as the evening goes on. Update, 1:57am: an obscure Twitter account has posted a semi-coherent tweet claiming to be the man who made this accusation, and claiming to recant the accusation, causing a significant amount of controversy across social media. However, the tweet in question does not appear legitimate.
