Donald Trump stunned into silence
For weeks on end Donald Trump couldn’t stop whining on social media about the fact that DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith was closing in on criminally indicting him for January 6th. In the days since Trump received a target letter about that indictment, he hasn’t been able to shut up about it. But now something has changed.
Suddenly Trump appears to have nothing to say at all. He’s now gone the better part of a full day without any social media posts at all. If you go back even further and presume that any multimedia posts were made by his staff, Trump doesn’t appear to have made any social media posts of his own for a couple days now.
So why has Trump gone silent? He did just hire a new criminal defense attorney in the January 6th probe, who maybe has been able to temporarily convince him to shut up and stop making things worse for himself. But it feels like it’s more than that. It’s as if he’s found out something about his criminal cases that’s stunned him into silence. It’s going to be an interesting week to say the least.
