Zelensky gets the better of Kevin McCarthy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. Tuesday Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer of CNN. During the interview Zelensky told Blitzer that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) that McCarthy should come visit the Ukraine to see for himself what is going on over there. Various members of both the House and Senate from both parties visited Ukraine and came away with firsthand knowledge of how the aid the United States has given has been used, as did President Biden. Kevin already responded by saying he does not plan to visit and the US is going to be a bit more stingy with aid.

I think President Zelensky handled ol’ Kevin like a champ. He gave the Democrats some great fodder to work with here. Democrats can now say that Kevin is too afraid to visit Ukraine while other members of Congress – some from his own party – visited the country. They can also say that Kevin is too afraid to visit a country that President Biden visited, even though there’s an active conflict going on there now.

Plus, if Kevin changed his mind Russian House plants like Matt Gaetz or Marjorie Taylor Greene might get mad enough at him to put in that motion to vacate the chair and causing more turmoil. Those two are openly doing Putin’s bidding and it would not help them or Putin to have the Speaker of the US House visit the Ukraine and perhaps come away supporting the country more than he is now.

With just a few words, President Zelensky has managed to put Kevin on the spot, and into a situation that Kevin can’t really win. Especially if the Democrats take full advantage of this.
