Recently in Des Moines there was a shooting outside a high school that left a 15 year old girl dead and two others in critical condition. Various people have called for Iowa to look at improving firearms laws to prevent tragedies like this from happening again, and firearms are still way too accessible to those who have no business having them.

In her never-ending quest to be the 50th best state governor, Governor Kim “CovidKim” Reynolds has decided not to join in these calls to improve firearms laws, but instead to spout more non-sense about how the education system has failed the shooters and the victims because the kids weren’t in school, and no changes should be made to firearms laws. All this after she and her GQP allies refused to adequately fund public schools, been doing their best to chase away educators who don’t toe the GQP line, make schools unwelcoming to different groups of people and ideas, and otherwise wreck public education in Iowa.

Sigh. Someone once defined insanity as doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. Instead of trying to figure out actual solutions and stopping the free flow of guns into our communities CovidKim decided to play to her GQP base instead. In other words, she and the GQP are insane since they’re doing the same thing they normally do and thinking results will be different. And CovidKim has a lot of nerve whining about education considering all the damage she and her allies have done to Iowa schools. If CovidKim and her buddies continue to keep their heads in the sand children will continue to be in danger from not only COVID, but from firearms flooding our nation, all while not getting the quality education their fore-bearers did.
