This is a major victory for America

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

President Biden already has a long list of accomplishments in the few short months he has been in office. It is so lovely to have an intelligent and kind president who does his job so very well!

And now we can add yet more happy news to the growing list of accomplishments. The House of Representatives has just voted in favor of making Juneteenth a national federal holiday!

This has been a long time coming. June 19th or “Juneteenth” is the day that celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans.

The vote for making Juneteenth a federal holiday passed by an overwhelming margin, with 14 Republicans voting against the bill. The total vote count was 415-14.

A few of the GOP members who voted against the bill include Paul Gosar (Arizona), Mo Brooks (Alabama), and Andy Biggs (Arizona.) None of these no votes is exactly a surprise. This scraggly group isn’t exactly known for doing the right thing.

The bill now heads to the desk of President Biden, who is expected to sign it into law by the weekend. People are understandably bubbling over with joy over on Twitter, where the mood is upbeat and happy. It is great to see something that activists have fought for become the law of the land. This is a day to celebrate, and I am sure there will be many more to come.
