The Matt Gaetz scandal is uglier than you think

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

So, how many women or girls did John Edwards pay for sex? Anyone? Bueller? The answer, as I recall, was one woman of rather mature years with whom Mr Edwards was cheating on his wife. John had a mistress. Such scandal as that, in the pre-pussy-grabber days, ended Mr Edwards run for presidency. No discussion. Red card shown. Edwards was ejected from the race without a second thought; disgraced and removed from public view, all consideration of his front-runner status revoked never to be reviewed or reinstated. Fait accompli. Done deal. Next!

In recent days, in contrast, as the convoluted story of Matt Gaetz and Joel Greenberg unfolds (unravels?) the stress has shifted focus from under-age girls (otherwise known as children) being paid for sexual favors to one which emphasizes that the vast number of paid sexual dalliances were with young women of ‘legal age.’

Laughably, participants in the aforementioned sex parties have come forth to clarify that they never saw under-age women (aka children) at the sex soirees they were paid to attend – as if that somehow absolves Matty.

In the shift of focus, our collective eyes have been taken off the ball. All the chatter about Venmo payments and talk of the former tax collector as an ersatz Tiger King have clouded our vision of what appears to have transpired.

Harkening back once more to the days before the Former Guy’s aberrant behavior as psychopathic toddler with self-indulgence issues, we have lost sight of what is acceptable from a sitting Congressman. Sex parties in Orlando – for example – are not acceptable behavior. They were not acceptable for Prince Andrew or Jeffery Epstein in the Bahamas; they are not to be accepted from Matty Gaetz and his felonious pals. Never mind illegal; none of this is acceptable.
