The former guy wouldn’t have dared to do this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Churchgoers at Sacred Heart Church in St. Ives, Cornwall got a bit of a surprise Sunday morning when a couple of Americans came into the church and quietly began participating in Mass. That’s right, it was President and Mrs. Biden who joined them for Mass. By all appearances the couple went there to do what people all over the world do on Sundays, which is to go to church to worship the Lord. Churchgoers were deeply impressed about how kindly the President was, with American parishioner Nina Roldan saying, “Everything they say about him being like your grandfather is true, he was a really nice man.”

That is such a nice change of pace from what we had before noon on January 20th of this year. The former guy wouldn’t have dreamed of entering a church unless there was something in it for him or he could hijack a religious service to turn it into one of his bund meetings rallies. The former guy desecrated a church about a year ago by standing in front of it while waving a bible in the air after his goons tear-gassed fellow Americans.

Of course, the President and Mrs. Biden are not your run of the mill churchgoers, so it was bound to be a story that he went to church there. But he didn’t go to magnify himself, but to worship the Lord and show that in so many ways the United States is starting to come back to its senses. We have a long way to go to become a more equitable and just society, but it feels good to have a President that actually is a decent human being for a change.
