Rudy Giuliani gets tossed

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In a filing entered today, Rudy Giullani has been suspended from the practice of law in New York State. This is a big deal. It signifies just how far the man has fallen from grace from the days when he was a prosecutor followed by a mayor of one of America’s most important cities. It shows how hitching one’s wagon to the Orange Florida Man (OFM) Train can be so detrimental to one’s reputation and professional career.

In the order suspending Rudy, the court wrote “We conclude that respondent’s conduct immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law, pending further proceedings before the Attorney Grievance Committee.” The court said Rudy had undermined the confidence of the public in the legal profession and how his actions undermined the profession’s “mandate to act as a trusted and essential part of the machinery of justice (Ohralik v Ohio State Bar Assn, 436 US at 447).” It went on to say that his words were “corrosive to the public’s trust in our most important democratic institutions.”

Rudy, you have no one to blame for this but yourself. You decided a long time ago that you would rather prop up the OFM no matter the cost to your reputation and career. You put OFM ahead of your oath as an attorney to uphold the Constitution and to serve the public trust. The court had good reason to suspend you from the practice of law. (Not that you’ll need a law license in prison anyways). I hope you never practice law again in any jurisdiction in this country.
