And from the land of absurdity, Louis DeJoy wants to stay on as Postmaster General. The removal of the sorting machines affected election ballots and prescription drugs. There have been many complaints about the decisions made by DeJoy. And DeJoy is powering ahead as if he is staying on, releasing a 10 year plan for the agency.

It isn’t so easy getting rid of him because Biden has to nominate members of the Post Office board to fire DeJoy. He can only fire members of the board for cause. Six of the nine seats are filled, 4 Republicans and 2 Democrats. Trump tried to nominate a 5th Republican but that nomination was not confirmed. There are 2 board members that are over their term limit. Biden now has to nominate the 3 open seats and take action on the 2 board members over their time limit.

Biden can take action on the board without congressional approval. Soon after taking office, he designated a Democrat as the New Chairmain of the Postal Regulatory Commission.

Trump nominated several people in the last few months of his administration. While Biden wants to act on all of this chaos, the amount of changes that need to be made might be overwhelming.

Biden can take action on the board without congressional approval. Soon after taking office, he designated a Democrat as the New Chairmain of the Postal Regulatory Commission. We are all looking forward to Biden’s board members finally firing DeJoy and hiring a new Postmaster General that will do the job on behalf of the American people.
