President Biden comes out in favor of reforming the filibuster
The filibuster has become one of the most debated things in the news right now. This is such a great thing, because the American people need to know about the filibuster, what it’s for and what it can do. So the fact that it’s being talked about so much is an excellent thing for Democrats.
And Biden has now come out and said he is for filibuster reform. President Biden would like to see the return of “the talking filibuster”. This goes back to what Joe Manchin had said when he commented that although he would not want to abolish it totally, he was open to making the use of the filibuster more painful. In other words, whoever tried to use it would have to work for it.
And with Biden coming out in favor of this, it will increase the pressure on Manchin.
The talking filibuster was the way it used to be done, which Biden alluded to. It would make the use of filibustering much more difficult as any Senator who wanted to use it would have to keep talking on the Senate floor. It wouldn’t be an easy process anymore, and it shouldn’t be.
Biden is proving to be an authentic and intelligent President. He did not come out and demand that this happen. But one had better believe that now you will hear about the filibuster in the news with regularity.
And that cannot make the Republicans happy because they’re on the wrong side of this issue, and the more it is talked about, the less time THEY have to talk about THEIR issues like Dr. Seuss. Poor Republicans. (sarcasm). Moscow Mitch seems to know changes are coming, as evidenced by his increasingly desperate comments. This is shaping up to be quite an interesting few months ahead.
