Nailing the Republicans at their own game

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Democratic Rep Zoe Lofgren did us all a great favor, including all investigators of the Jan. 6 insurrection, who apparently need all the help they can get. (See, Bill Palmer’s article, “Rachel Maddow sounds the alarm about the Department of Justice”). Lofgren had her staff pull all the relevant social media posts on public forums, since before the Nov. 6 election and after the Jan. 6 insurrection, made by all of the House members who voted to overturn the 2020 election, and compiled a searchable report, available on her Congressional website. Senators who voted to convict should take notice of this, and have something similar compiled for the Senate. (I’m sure the Senate clerks who had to read all of Biden’s Covid relief bill aloud would love the opportunity to do something useful.)

Lofgren’s social media report contains some very interesting information. Examples include dozens of pages of social media posts and tweets by Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, where he urges supporters to “hold the line” and states “sedition and treason for stealing votes is appropriate.” The FBI is reportedly examining cell phone communications between Congress and the insurrectionists, and should be looking into these relevant social media posts as well. With any luck this has already been done or is at least in progress.

Our DOJ is still in disarray, and getting it to function properly and swiftly is going to be a challenge in and of itself. We’re also still waiting for Merrick Garland to be confirmed as Attorney General, but he has already promised that his first order of business will be to get fully briefed on the status of the insurrection case, that it will be thoroughly investigated, and all those found responsible will be vigorously prosecuted, but what if that should be found to include the majority of Congressional Republicans? Hopefully that would not influence Garland’s pursuit of justice, especially since most of them are still spreading the Big Lie and related hateful propaganda. They are still endangering our democracy and the safety of all Americans indefinitely, including our President.
