Matt Gaetz is only the tip of the iceberg

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even with the Chauvin trial dragging on and yet another assault on the Capitol leaving one officer dead, even with a series of mass gun deaths marking the easing of pandemic restrictions, the looming scandal of Matt Getz is sucking all the oxygen out of the room.

If you haven’t been able to keep abreast of the Gaetz-gate, you’re not alone. It’s a fact-checker’s nightmare; an amalgam of figurative land-mines, egg shells and red herrings with nary a glimpse of verisimilitude to be had; as sordid and salacious a tale as one might find in Penthouse’s Forum.

More ‘locker-room’ talk, one supposes?

After screwing the pooch on Tucker Carlson’s show, Gaetz has garnered the support of fellow T-bagger, Jim ‘Gym’ Jordan and the queen of QAnon, Marjorie Taylor-Greene. Hurray! With friends like that who needs enemies?

House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy, has shown his signature lack of spine by hemming and hawing, clearing his throat and side-stepping the matter.

Moscow Mitch will, most assuredly, avoid entering the scrum unless he can figure a way to blame it all on Obama and a socialist agenda.

Coincidentally, former Speaker of the House, John Boehner has been promoting his book, ‘On the House:  A Washington Memoir’, wherein he spits venom at the GOP, decrying the depths to which the party has sunk with the emergence of the T-Baggers and, one supposes, Trumpists and QAnon-ninnies.

In his book, Boehner – he of orange hue – rails against Ted Cruz and Michelle Bachman, but he could easily have folded the current batch of GOP loonies, led by the Master of Mar-a-Lago, into the putrid mix.
