Marjorie Taylor Greene goes off the violent deep end

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) supposedly represents Georgia’s 14th congressional district, yet she spends an inordinate amount of time speaking to right wingers well outside her district. Palmer Report shared last week that Greene recently headlined an event held by the nefarious right-wing Alabama Federation of Republican Women (AFRW). At the event in question, Greene gave a rambling speech in which she aired many cringe-worthy grievances.

New footage of Greene’s speech to AFRW late last month reveals something else: an incitement to violence. Alabama is one of the least-vaccinated states in the country, and Greene was met with applause when she pointed this out to her AFRW audience. She then uttered this falsehood: “Well, Joe Biden wants to come talk to you guys. He’s going to be sending one of his police state friends to your … door, take down your name, your address, your family members’ names, your phone numbers, your cell phone numbers, probably ask for your social security number, and whether you’ve taken the vaccine or not.”

What Greene said next is chilling: “We all love our Second Amendment rights. And we’re not real big on strangers showing up on our front door, are we? They might not like the welcome they get.” It’s clear that Greene is encouraging gun violence over vaccine stances. Greene has already encouraged, in her short tenure in the public eye, increased marginalization of certain groups, violence against political adversaries, and has been a staunch proponent of the Big Lie ‒ in short, Greene has spent her time doing as many disservices as she can. We’ve already seen that the basest elements of the far right are susceptible to brutality when so incited by our leaders. That Greene is again encouraging violence is disturbing. She’s one of the least productive members of Congress, yet she still manages to cause great harm and further societal divisions with her deranged rhetoric.
