Marjorie Taylor Greene enters the Twilight Zone

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

About half the Republican caucus gave Marjorie Taylor Greene a standing ovation on Wednesday night for, checks notes, apologizing for QAnon beliefs. Meanwhile, Liz Cheney sat on the precipice of being removed from leadership for voting “Aye” to Donald J Trump’s impeachment.

If this were an episode of the Twilight Zone, it would all make sense. However, this is reality. What is happening in the GOP does not make sense.

In obvious survival mode, Greene had to capitulate in front of the GOP caucus for her outlandish beliefs regarding Jewish Space Lasers, claiming Sandy Hook was a hoax, and claiming Q Anon is a patriot. Democrats had drawn a line in the sand that either McCarthy ditch Greene’s appointments or they would do it. Sean Hannity, Fox News Opinion Host, claimed on February 3rd that he didn’t know any conservatives that knew what Qanon was.

Meanwhile, Liz Cheney, the number three Republican in the House, was under threat of being removed from leadership. Unlike the bravery it took Liz to stand up and be counted for voting yes on impeachment, the GOP held a secret ballot to get rid of Liz. NPR reported that at the end of the vote, 145 members voted to keep her, 61 members voted to strip her. Roughly 30% of the Republican House voted to remove Cheney, while over half gave Greene a standing ovation.

Wednesday night’s actions do not signal the end of the Grand Old Party, but it does suggest that there is trouble in the GOP House. Unlike Mr. Hannity, the Real GOP House does, in fact, know what Qanon is all about.
