Kevin McCarthy is having a no good very bad horrible week

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kevin McCarthy is having a bad week. It has just been one thing after another for the hapless Californian. The January Sixth committee is seeking his phone records. His nemesis, Rep. Liz Cheney, has been elevated to Vice-Chair of the committee.

And he has made a fool of himself by pathetically threatening communication companies if they dare to respond to the committee with phone records. Now, things have become worse for Kev. An ethics complaint has been filed against him.

Per Forbes, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is calling for an investigation into Kevin for retaliation after threats to the companies by the House Minority leader. Oh, dear!

Apparently, the complaint also references Marjorie Taylor Greene. No doubt Kevin is dismayed at this breaking news. But honestly, what did he expect? McCarthy seems to be trying to emulate the former guy, which shows terrible decision-making right there.

These bullying tactics did not work for the orange Jello-man, and they won’t work for Kevin. He has no authority to close down massively gigantic Telecommunication companies, and by threatening to do so, he has now made himself vulnerable to ethics violations.

In no way do I feel sorry for McCarthy. I applaud the ethics group for this filing. Republicans have to learn that bullying has consequences. Bullying and threatening seem to be the only tools the GOP have since they have virtually no policy positions.
