It’s time for a shakeup at Christopher Wray’s FBI

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It was just reported that the FBI apologized publicly to the female gymnastic athletes that were sexually harassed and abused by U.S. Olympic Committee physician Larry Nassar, for bumbling their investigation into those crimes. The FBI basically ignored the reports by the woman athletes about Nesser’s sexually predatory conduct toward them.

It has also been recently reported that the FBI failed to investigate over 4000 anonymous tips given to the FBI about the alleged misconduct of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was under consideration for appointment to the high court by the U.S. Senate.

You have to wonder whether the FBI has been controlled by a cabal of Trumpublican sympathizers in the last several years. Remember that former FBI Director James Comey suddenly started investigating Hillary Clinton just before the 2016 election. Most observers, including Clinton herself, claimed that this tipped the election to Trump.

Trump threw Comey under the bus like he usually does most people that are no longer useful to him, and appointed Chris Wray as FBI director. Under Wray’s tenure, the FBI presented false reports essentially covering up Nassar’s sex crimes. And the FBI’s failure to investigate the thousands of tips about Kavanaugh‘s alleged misdeeds, cleared the way for his appointment to a lifetime opportunity of right-wing judicial obstruction.

To borrow a favorite line of Ricky Ricardo, the FBI’s “got some splainin’ to do.” The appointment of a special investigator to look into FBI coverup activities would be a idea worth considering by President Joe Biden.
