Good news for the Democrats

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Senator Rob Portman announced he would not be seeking reelection, shock waves reverberated through DC. This was not something most people saw coming although in retrospect, maybe everyone should have. It is clear that with the Republican party kidnapped by the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, less space was available in the party for a comparatively moderate Republican such as Portman.

Many were worried that United States Congressman and everyone’s favorite screamer, Republican Jim Jordan would run but he has already announced this will not happen. All of this is great news for the Democrats! This means there will be an open Senate seat in Ohio. It wont be easy to win, but we can do it if we have the right candidate.

And now it appears indeed that indeed we may. Congressman Tim Ryan looks to be planning a run per many outlets, including the New York Times and MSNBC.

Tim Ryan currently represents Ohio’s 13th district as a United States Congressman. He first took office in 2013 and easily won reelection in 2020.

He is well regarded in Ohio and has praised Senator Sherrod Brown, also from Ohio. If Ryan does indeed announce a run, as many think he will in the next few weeks, this is excellent news for the Democrats.
