Family of deceased Capitol police officer speaks out about 1/6 commission

We've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

Howie Liebengood was and is a hero. Who is he? Officer Liebengood was a Capitol police officer who fought for this country on January sixth. Tragically, he died by suicide shortly after the attack. And now his family is speaking out.

In a statement, family members say Liebengood’s death was a direct result of the insurrection, and they support a Bi-partisan commission.

Liebengood’s death “was a direct result of the trauma and strain from the January 6th attack on the Capitol and the around-the-clock shifts in the subsequent days,” the statement says.

And the family of this heroic officer said a commission and investigation are necessary “to move forward.”

“Every officer who worked that day, as well as their families, should have a better understanding of what happened,” the statement went on.

It is just unbelievable that the party who for years have bragged about “backing the blue” is now turning a blind eye to the Blue. This is most definitely a statement you will not see the GOP mentioning.

But it shows how imperative it is such a commission happens. And it also shows what we have known for a long time. The GOP doesn’t give a damn about the Police.

If they did, they would be calling for an investigation themselves. They would be passionately invoking the names of the heroic officers who fought the crazed insurrectionists tooth and nail.

But none of that is happening. Like most all of what the GOP does, this backing of the Police was nothing but smoke and mirrors. This will inevitably come back and haunt the insurrection party. And as they splinter before our very eyes, it is up to us to make sure they never again hold power.

It's been a tough week, a tough month, a tough year. For all of us. But the fight goes on. Because we know how important this is. Because we care. Because we're the ones who fight. It's you and me. It has been for a decade. And I'm never backing down. But Palmer Report does have operating expenses. And in this uncertain time, I truly need your help. For that reason I've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.
