Even for Tucker Carlson, this is a whole new low

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Officer Michael Fanone of the United States Capitol Police was beaten unconscious and suffered a heart attack during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. The insurrection was incited by far-right politicians, conspiracy mongers, and most especially by the previous president. With few exceptions, like Representatives Liz Cheney (WY) and Adam Kinzinger (IL), Republicans have largely sought to dismiss and minimalize the domestic terrorist attack. They’re dismissive of it because they helped to instigate it, and because the attack was carried out by their political comrades. In fact, it’s possible there are GOP members of Congress who were complicit in the attack.

Now Tucker Carlson, Fox News host and generally horrible human being, is making fun of Officer Fanone. Carlson, whose own son works at the Capitol complex, thinks the deadly insurrection is a laughing matter. On his show on his network, a right-wing propaganda and entertainment entity, Carlson laughed aloud at Fanone’s testimony to the Select Committee on the January 6th Insurrection. This shows us just how callous and deplorable Carlson and his ilk are. Carlson does not even care that Fanone and his colleagues worked to protect Carlson’s own son that fateful day.

Just days ago, Carlson was confronted by a man in Montana. The man told Carlson that he was “the worst human being known to mankind.” Somehow that confrontation was cathartic for the majority of Americans who find Carlson and his behavior repulsive. Furthermore, Carlson’s latest attempts to downplay the insurrection and to make fun of the Capitol Police only serve to cement the widely held thought that he is indeed amongst the worst our country has to offer. The right loves to claim that it backs the blue, but that support for the police is nowhere to be found now.
