Yet another key member of Donald Trump’s White House heads for the exit door

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Over the past few days Donald Trump has seen the abrupt resignation of his Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan to scandal, and the abrupt resignation of his White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for unknown reasons. If there has been one constant in Trump’s chaotic failed administration, it’s been constant resignations. Now Trump is suffering yet another key personnel loss.

Donald Trump is currently on his third National Security Adviser, after the first one Michael Flynn resigned as part of a criminal scandal that’s going to send him to prison, and the second one HR McMaster resigned in disgust. Trump has also seen chaotic turnover on his National Security Council, and now he’s losing another member.

Fiona Hill, the Russia expert on the National Security Council, is heading for the exit door, according to a new report from CNN. She’s not expected to leave until sometime this summer, so it doesn’t necessarily sound like she’s departing due to scandal or disgust. But when you place it within the larger context of the other Trump regime resignations this past week, and the overall theme of endless resignations, Trump’s White House is a revolving door.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump continues to rely largely on “acting” personnel in key positions, partly because no one wants certain jobs, and partly because he wants to rely on the kind of people who could never survive the scrutiny of the Senate confirmation process. Currently, Trump has no permanent Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Air Force, Homeland Security Director, ICE Director, White House Chief of Staff, Communications Director, FEMA Director, or U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
