There’s something very wrong with this Melania Trump story

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Something has gone very wrong with Melania Trump, and whatever it is, Donald Trump’s White House doesn’t want you to know anything about it. In a development that’s bizarre and disconcerting even by Trump-era standards, Melania disappeared into the hospital four days ago for what we were told was either kidney surgery or a kidney procedure, but she’s still in the hospital even though she was supposed to have been released by now – and despite growing questions from the media, no one involved is willing to say what’s going on.

We all know someone who has gone into the hospital for what was supposed to be routine procedure, and ended up having to remain longer due to complications. But if this is the case, all that Trump’s White House would have to do is say so. If her kidney issue has turned out to be more severe than expected, all her people would have to do is say so, and she’d gain points in the sympathy department. From a PR standpoint, this one is so easy that even Trump’s bumblers shouldn’t be able to screw it up.

Yet look at today’s headlines. CNN is asking “Why is Melania Trump still in the hospital?” The New York Times is running with “White House Keeps Details of Melania Trump’s Health Under Wraps.” The latter is reporting that the White House is refusing to even confirm or deny whether Melania is indeed still in the hospital, or which hospital she might be in at this point, or what’s going on with her. The only possible reason for Trump’s people to remain quiet is if something has gone wrong here that they can’t announce.

In other words, this isn’t about a kidney condition, and it apparently never was. There has been quite a bit of speculation across social media about what the real reason might be for her hospitalization, and why it’s something that the White House is unwilling to acknowledge, but we’d rather not get into that. Suffice it to say for now that there is something very wrong with this Melania Trump story, and the longer the White House remains silent about it, the worse we know it is.
