Wow, so Putin really is that desperate

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The key question that we don’t know the answer to, but whose answer can help us figure out how to finish off Vladimir Putin, is why Putin still has yet to send additional Russian troops to fight his losing war in Ukraine – even as he begs other nations to send reinforcements. Putin has bet his future and likely his life on winning this war. So instead of doing everything he can to win it, why is he reduced to asking others to win it for him?

Given the visibly depleted nature of the Russian army that he did send into Ukraine, maybe there is no more Russian army beyond what he’s already sent. Or maybe he’s just that afraid that sending more of his own army will result in upheaval and leave him vulnerable back home. Either way, Putin is now making a truly desperate bid.

The Financial Times says it’s learned from U.S. intel sources that Putin has asked China for military help in Ukraine. That’s right, China. There’s little reason to expect that this will actually happen. This Chinese regime generally doesn’t like using military action when it thinks it can win battles economically. And if China were going to unleash its military, it would seemingly be to invade Taiwan for its own benefit, not Ukraine for Putin’s benefit.

In fact this appears to be yet another instance of the U.S. intel community intercepting what Putin is secretly trying to do, and putting it out there publicly in order to make sure it can’t happen. Even if China were willing to help Putin secretly, it’s difficult to imagine that China would now do so in broad daylight, given the worldwide economic blowback.

In any case, wow is Vladimir Putin ever desperate. He’s reduced to asking China for military help, knowing he’s almost certainly not going to get it, and knowing there was a good chance that this would leak out and humiliate him. Yet he’s so hamstrung back home, he still can’t or won’t send additional Russian military personnel to fight in his losing war. Putin keeps finding whole new ways to further weaken himself.
