Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Wow.

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump, like the infantile coward that he is, skipped out on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last night for the second year in a row. He made clear that he was too narcissistic and fragile to sit there and listen to jokes about himself, like every other modern U.S. President has graciously done. Even as he was giving a mentally deranged speech at a rally in Michigan, his White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders showed up to the dinner in his place. She probably ended up wishing she hadn’t.

Host Michelle Wolf didn’t hold back at all. She accused Donald Trump of being flat broke. She accused him of being a treasonous Russian puppet. She made fun of his affair with Stormy Daniels. She made plenty of jokes about various other past and present members of the Trump administration as well. Then it came time for her to make fun of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was sitting on stage at the head table. All we can really say is “wow.”

Wolf started off by joking that Sarah Huckabee Sanders looked like Aunt Lydia in the Handmaid’s Tale, not exactly a flattering comparison. She then made one joke after another about how often Huckabee Sanders tells lies from the briefing room podium. She then accused the Huckabee family of being inbreds, before comparing Sarah Huckabee Sanders to Ann Coulter.

There will be plenty of commentary about whether Michelle Wolf went too far. Others will point out that Sarah Huckabee Sanders has chosen to work for Donald Trump, the most inappropriately offensive person on the American stage. Huckabee Sanders seemed unsure of how to respond to the jokes, with the look on her face suggesting she didn’t want to be there. In other words, just like every day in the press briefing.
