“Worst nightmare…”

“It took away my hope to continue being respected and validated for my service.” These words come from one of the federal government workers who was swept up in the mass firings. She is only one of hundreds speaking out. USA Today did a deep dive and spoke to many former employees who were adjusting to the new realities. Most, if not all, of them report feeling stunned, shaken up, embarrassed, and scared.
These people, many of whom were Trump voters, worry about where their next meal is going to come from and how they are going to pay the rent and their families medical bills. The quote I referenced at the beginning of this article comes from an employee who had left the private sector last year to take a job in the government. She said she did regret it.
All of these people are perfectly competent, intelligent individuals who did their jobs well; there was no reason or just cause to let them go, except for an insane little Twitter troll who unfathomably has taken control of the presidency. But I must say that no Republican seems to be speaking out about the lives of these people and how they’ve been upended. WE need to.
We need to because we have got to make people aware and we need to continue driving the news with these extremely personal and sad stories. They matter. Humanity is a precious commodity that seems in short supply in the White House right now, but we’ll always have it.
We feel for every single human being who lost their job as a result of the incompetence of the Trump administration. It used to be that working for the federal government, was one of the most reliable jobs one could possibly have. These jobs were considered to be excellent career moves with super benefits, long-term job stability, excellent pay, and plenty of upward mobility in job growth.
Alas, all of that is lost, and now, unfortunately, working for the government is becoming anybody’s worst nightmare because clouds, clouds, clouds of utter malfeasance, and incompetence are running this government.
