Donald Trump proves he’s the world’s worst negotiator

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As evidenced by his numerous bankruptcies, the growing volatility in the Middle East, and his increasing trade wars with allies, Donald Trump is not a good negotiator. Despite what he wants you to believe, Trump has failed at pretty much everything he has ever attempted to do, aside from con artistry. Republican political strategist and Trump-hater Rick Wilson’s new book is titled Everything Trump Touches Dies: A Republican Strategist Gets Real About the Worst President Ever.

Tony Schwartz, the actual author of Trump’s book The Art of the Deal, has come out publicly to refute Trump’s claims of being a world-class negotiator. With an attention span shorter than a goldfish, Trump could not maintain his focus for more than a few seconds, causing Schwartz to spend eighteen months following Trump around in order to write the book. Years later, during the presidential campaign, Schwartz stated, “I put lipstick on a pig. I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.”

While the vast majority of people around the world can now see Trump for who he really is, his cult-like base continues to believe every false claim he makes. Many people ridiculed Trump over his recent summit with North Korean leader Kim Jung Un, and even more derided Trump’s claim afterward that Kim Jong Un was going to denuclearize immediately, going so far as to declare North Korea “no longer a nuclear threat.”

Once again, it is demonstrably clear that Trump is terrible at negotiating. Despite Trump’s claim that he successfully negotiated a great deal with Kim, it is now being reported that North Korea is indeed increasing its nuclear arsenal and building new missiles. This news comes on the same day that Trump said he would meet with Iranian leaders without preconditions. Based on his track record, it would be a terrible idea for Trump to meet with the leaders of Iran. Because we have watched him, for nearly two years, do the exact opposite of what a legitimate leader would do, there is a very good chance Trump will ensure this meeting takes place.
