World Series player criticizes Donald Trump for inappropriate baseball tweet

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After a controversial pitching change arguably caused the Los Angeles Dodgers to lose game four of the World Series, Donald Trump decided to go on a Twitter bender about it. Palmer Report called out Trump for ranting about baseball just hours after a far-right domestic terrorist shot up a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Some folks told us that we were out of line with our criticism, and that Donald Trump should be allowed to tweet whatever he wants. But now one of the players directly involved in the World Series pitching change is criticizing Trump for the same reason we did. For reference, here’s what Trump tweeted: “Watching the Dodgers/Red Sox final innings. It is amazing how a manager takes out a pitcher who is loose & dominating through almost 7 innings, Rich Hill of Dodgers, and brings in nervous reliever(s) who get shellacked. 4 run lead gone. Managers do it all the time, big mistake!”

The day after the game, Rich Hill was asked about Trump’s tweet, and he told reporters this: “There was a mass shooting yesterday. The focus, in my opinion, of the president is to be on the country, and not on moves that are made in a World Series game.”

So after Donald Trump went on a rant about how Rich Hill shouldn’t have been removed from the game, Rich Hill criticized Donald Trump for ranting about baseball at an inappropriate time. It doesn’t get any more on-the-nose than that. You can donate to Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue here.
