The Democrats have won the Wisconsin Supreme Court seat after all

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

How desperate were the Republicans on the Wisconsin Supreme Court to keep their majority intact? They forced people to go out and vote in person during a pandemic, risking lives in the process, in the hope that the reduced turnout would allow the GOP to keep the Supreme Court seat that was on the ballot.

Now the results have finally come in today. Joe Biden won the Wisconsin Democratic primary contest, as expected, which doesn’t much matter now that Bernie Sanders has formally endorsed Biden today. But in news that really does matter, liberal candidate Jill Karofsky has defeated conservative incumbent Daniel Kelly.

This means the Republicans still have a majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, but it’s down to just one seat now. It also means that the Republicans on the Wisconsin Supreme Court put the state through that dangerous primary vote for nothing, and the whole thing has blown up in their faces. They were specifically hoping that the dangerous voting conditions and low turnout would favor Kelly.

It’s also more clear than ever that mainstream Americans will go to any lengths in November to vote Donald Trump out. The GOP can send us out to vote in a pandemic. It can set every trap it wants. We’re still going to vote Trump out, no matter what it takes.
