William Barr swings and misses
Donald Trump tweeted a lengthy, whiny, and fictional rant today about why Special Counsel Robert Mueller shouldn’t be allowed to testify on Wednesday, thus giving away how petrified he is of what Mueller is about to do to him. It’s not difficult to parse that Trump then asked his corrupt Attorney General William Barr to intervene, because Barr then jumped into the fray – but not really.
Barr’s Department of Justice announced today that it expects Robert Mueller to limit his testimony to what’s in the publicly released version of his own report. This is apparently what counts for attempted intimidation from the increasingly hollow Trump regime these days, as Mueller already publicly stated that his testimony would be limited to his own report.
The DOJ placed literally no restrictions on Mueller that he hadn’t already publicly staked himself to, which means Barr didn’t actually do anything. That said, Barr probably did manage to convince the ever-clueless Trump that he’s managed to censor Mueller.
In any case, Robert Mueller is still on track to publicly testify before the House on Wednesday. Trump and Barr can’t do anything about it, but only one of them seems to know it.
