Who’s going to be the one to tell Donald Trump?

Given all the recent talk about polls, it is little surprising that the media is touting them on an almost daily basis, which is part of what’s wrong with Donald Trump. Newsweek reported on yet another, the Cook Political Report Swing State Project Survey. This report was released August 14 and includes all third-party candidates. By including the third-party candidates, the report gets a clearer picture of what’s happening. It shows that Kamala Harris is leading in five of the seven swing states. Recall that Trump was leading in six and in a tie with Biden on the seventh. The most astonishing number hails from North Carolina, where Trump held an eight-point lead. Harris has obliterated Trump’s lead and now leads the state by two points. As members of the media have said, this has been the fastest start with sustained power ever seen in modern political times. It’s almost unbelievable.

Republicans can find nothing to criticize Harris on, so they’re leaning on immigration, something she has been successful with. Republicans mislabeled her as “Biden’s immigration czar,” but that is not at all what President Biden assigned to her. She was to look at specific migration in other countries to see what they could do to stop the migrations. In partnership with Partnership for Central America, Harris raised over $1 billion to benefit Central America to make life better for those residents thereby encouraging them to stay home. Those funds were part of Central America Forward (CAF), a public-private partnership that was created in response to Harris’s Call to Action for Northern Central America. The commitments went well over $5.2 billion. In other words, Harris successfully fulfilled the assignment given to her by President Biden. She was never charged with “fixing” the border problem, and if she had been, she likely would have been successful with that as well, given her background in immigration in California. The numbers in these polls don’t lie, and as Nate Silver now says: “It’s no longer Trump’s election to lose,” and most of us know why.

Bernard Goldberg wrote an opinion piece for The Hill, and it is spot on. Goldberg says that someone needs to tell Trump he’s losing, and he goes on to say why he is losing. Donald Trump needs to stop acting like a petulant child. That is hurting him with many voters. Goldberg said Trump was “lucky” to win in 2016 because of the unlikability factor that surrounded Hillary Clinton, and he was “lucky” again because of the appearance and performance of President Joe Biden, but then, his luck ran out. Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris. Her presence in the race now makes Trump “too old,” and calling her names is not working. His die-hard supporters may like his unprofessional, childish behavior, but suburban women and college educated people are totally turned off by him. Finally, Goldberg calls him “boring” and “tiresome,” both of which are true. One more thing someone should tell Trump is that he’s going to be very embarrassed on November 5.
