Donald Trump has a whole new scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump is fending off so many scandals, it’s difficult to keep track of them all. There’s his treasonous plot with Russia to rig the election. There’s his subsequent obstruction of justice scandal. There’s his pornstar scandal, his money laundering scandal, his marriage scandal, his emoluments scandal, and too many others to list. Now, as of today, Trump is about to be trying to fend off a whole new scandal.

The Philadelphia Eagles just won the Super Bowl, which means they’d traditionally be invited to the White House for a celebratory event. The trouble: these things have gone terribly for Trump. A year ago, when the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl, much of the team – including Trump’s own friend Tom Brady – boycotted the visit because Trump is a racist. When the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Championship last summer, the entire team was preparing to boycott when Trump “revoked” the invitation. This time around it’s going to be worse for him.

The Patriots snub in early 2017 didn’t get as much attention as it should have, because Trump was still fairly new in office, and America was still focused on the shock of his illegitimate presidency. In the year since, Trump has launched into racist attacks on numerous black athletes, and he’s gone to war with the NFL on Twitter. NFL owners and players have roundly told him to go to hell. Trump’s reputation as a racist has become even more cemented with his “shithole countries” controversy.

If the Patriots had won again this year, at least Trump would have had some cover from the fact that he’s friends with head coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft; they’d have attended even if Brady and plenty of other players hadn’t. The Eagles, however, are a different beast. Trump has no friends in that organization. Chris Long, a white Eagles player, has already announced that he’ll join his black teammates in boycotting Trump’s White House. So many Eagles players will boycott, Trump will have to think twice about even inviting them. Either way, he’s facing a whole new scandal, and the kind which makes him look like a small minded idiot.
