Whistleblower gives up Donald Trump’s Truth Social to federal prosecutors

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

How much of a failure is Donald Trump’s Truth Social site? One of its key former executives is now working as a barista trainer at Starbucks, according to a new report from the Washington Post. But everyone is so focused on this particular detail, they’re overlooking the buried lede in the story.

The Washington Post is also revealing that this particular former executive has become a whistleblower and has turned over 150,000 internal documents from Truth Social to federal prosecutors. This comes after months of reporting that Truth Social’s parent company was under federal criminal investigation for potential financial crimes, and that the DOJ had already been subpoenaing company executives for financial documents. It’s not yet clear if Jack Smith has taken over, or will take over, the Truth Social probe. But when a whistleblower is involved, it tends to be serious business.

This comes after Donald Trump’s own quarterly filings revealed earlier this month that Truth Social was only valued at a tiny fraction of what its leaders had originally publicly predicted it would end up being worth. Now the only question is whether it’s merely a failure, or a criminal failure.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s continued use of Truth Social continues to get him in trouble in other ways. After he made two inappropriate posts about the E. Jean Carroll trial just before it began, the judge warned Trump that he could face obstruction charges if he kept it up. That trial resumes tomorrow.
