Whisper to a scream
When one is preparing for a football game or a baseball game one puts a lot of time and effort into it. It’s very much like that for any prize, one fights for. So this is the week that some start receiving their early voting ballots! So yes, I’m asking you to make a plan. Elections are holidays that fall once every four years but what holidays they are!
I can’t think of any other holiday where we, the American people really do have the ability to change the world. So here’s the thing. I’m sure many of you are hyper vigilant about your ballot , but I’m also asking you to check with everybody you know who plans to vote. Friends ,check with them .
Family members, check with them. Everyone you know online, check with them. And please, if you use Twitter, pin it as your main tweet. There’s other things we’re going to need to do too. For example, when you inquire about whether the people who you know and love are planning to vote, ask them if they have methods of transportation.
Please ask them that, and for anyone you know, who might want to vote but might be physically challenged to get to the Polls , why not offer to drive them? I have in the past set up numerous rides for people. My favorite story is about a sweet little old lady from Las Vegas Nevada who desperately wanted to vote, but didn’t have a way to get to the Polls. I was able to hook her up with a democratic organization offering rides in Nevada. Rest, assured, she voted!
This is the time to whisper in the ears of the people that we love, and as we get closer to this holiday called election day – this magnificent and vibrant holiday – let’s all put the time and effort into mobilizing the troops and Making sure that every human being that we know who wants to vote will have the opportunity to vote.
