Donald Trump goes out with a whimper

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Donald Trump lost the election by five and six digit margins in the deciding swing states, Palmer Report pointed out that he had literally zero chance of getting the courts to overturn the result. If he’d lost the deciding state by a few hundred votes, sure. But no court, not even the corrupt Supreme Court, would be able to find an excuse to overturn states that Joe Biden won by 20,000 or 80,000 votes.

Palmer Report further pointed out that because the Supreme Court was going to have to automatically vote against Trump in any election case, the conservative Justices on the court would likely decide against even hearing the case, so they wouldn’t have to vote against Trump. Sure enough, this evening, the Supreme Court refused to hear Trump’s case aimed at overturning the Pennsylvania results.

So, with the safe harbor deadline coming at the end of today, barring any additional last minute Supreme Court moves, this is how it ends. Trump put all that effort into putting a criminal like Kavanaugh and a lunatic like Barrett on the Supreme Court, just so they could bail him out if he lost the election in close fashion, but he lost so badly that even they couldn’t help him.

Sure, Trump fans will hold out hope that the Electoral College will somehow magically hand him the election on Monday. But that would be literally impossible, as the Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that laws against faithless electors are valid.

In other words, it’s over. It’s been over, from the start. At the margins Trump lost by, he had literally zero chance of overturning the election. That was never in doubt. Only his gullible supporters, and the more nervous members of the Resistance, ever mistakenly believed otherwise. But rather than ending with some big climax, Trump is going out with a whimper. The fact that he’s dragged it out like this, in such pathetic fashion, merely ensures he’ll be remembered as even more of a loser.
