When will the pundits stop getting it wrong about the January 6th Committee?
Once again, the media has gotten it wrong. Will they ever stop? The answer to that question is no. They most likely will not stop. And it is a shame. The January 6th committee is doing great. They are planning to hold Steve Bannon in contempt.
This cannot happen until Tuesday because Tuesday is the first day the House is back in session. But they have made clear that they are going to hold Bannon in contempt as well as anybody else who defies a subpoena. So this is good news. But you would never know it from any in the media.
Here is an example. Some of the headlines on television about this subject go like this… “Are the Democrats in a lose-lose situation?”
“The subpoena process could take years — are the Democrats ready for that?”
“This is going to be a difficult situation for the Democrats.”
Democrats Democrats Democrats. Do you see The misnomer here? Why is the focus on the Democrats? Why is the focus ALWAYS on the Democrats when it comes to the media? The Democrats are not the story here.
Here is what the television discussions should have looked like.
“Steve Bannon defies subpoena. What is he hiding?”
“The January 6 committee isn’t playing. They are going to make criminal referrals to any Republican who defines a subpoena.”
What did Steve Bannon know, and when did he know it!?”
But no. I don’t believe we saw even one of those headlines. And we need to. Because this story is not about the Democrats, it is about an insurrection caused by a viral group of people, and it is about our search to learn the truth. Please do better media.
