What’s really going on today
We’ll see how the major media outlets shift their tone once they actually call the election for Joe Biden. But right now, with Biden having pulled ahead in Pennsylvania and the news outlets basically making their final commentary before calling the race, we’re seeing a fair amount of weird and bad takes.
For instance, MSNBC is pushing the narrative right now that Joe Biden becoming President will be some kind of somber affair because the nation is so divided, and that Biden will still have to govern over a Trump nation. This is total nonsense.
Joe Biden just won the presidency in what will end up being a roughly seven million vote blowout when all is said and done. Biden’s party has a majority in the House. Biden’s party is also in contention to win the Senate majority pending a runoff. The Democrats are in charge now because the majority of American people voted that way.
This election was a decisive and historic repudiation of Donald Trump and his policies. Yes, far too many people voted for Trump, revealing that there’s something wrong with them. But this election proved that they’re clearly the minority, and they’re not even close to being anything but the minority, which means they’re not the story – especially not today.
The three legitimate media narratives for today: 1) Joe Biden is going to be President with a clear and decisive victory. 2) Kamala Harris is going to be Vice President, in a major historic development that begins to heal centuries of sexism and racism in America. 3) Donald Trump lost in a blowout, as the clear majority of Americans have decided to reject Trumpism and move on from it. Any other narratives are essentially fictional.
