What’s really going on here

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

– Real things you should be focused on: Trying to win Georgia Senate runoffs. The worsening pandemic. Whatever Trump is doing behind the scenes to try to pardon himself and pilfer money. Imaginary things you should not be focused on: Trump somehow magically overturning the election.

– Just 12% of Americans think Trump shouldn’t concede. And only a small fraction of those 12% would care enough to actually get involved. That’s not enough for Trump to somehow magically start a civil war. This is just one last cash grab, and nothing more.

– Far too many politically enthusiastic people think there’s a magic wand in politics, and that on any given day one side or the other has it, and they’re either angry that their own side won’t wave it, or worried that the other side is about to wave it. NOTHING WORKS THAT WAY.

– All American progress has been a result of the left and middle coming together to outnumber the far right. This is what got Biden elected. Keep it up. All American tragedy has been a result of the right and middle coming together to outnumber the left. We can’t ever let it happen again. The way to do that is to keep the left and the middle united, which is going to require some compromise. Winning coalitions always do.
