What’s Donald Trump hiding?
Several days ago, Donald Trump announced that he had invoked the Defense Production Act, thus mobilizing U.S. manufacturing in the name of producing emergency supplies and equipment in order to help with the coronavirus crisis. Actually, Trump falsely claimed that he had signed it into law, which made no sense, as Harry Truman did that. That may have been a hint at just how full of crap Trump was on the topic.
It turns out Donald Trump apparently still hasn’t bothered to invoke it:
Let's be clear – there is no evidence President Trump has invoked the Defense Production Act and ordered a single manufacturer to start producing masks and protective gear.
This decision is unconscionable.
It will allow the virus to spread.
It will get people killed.

So what’s he hiding? Donald Trump has to have a reason for refusing to invoke an existing provision that pretty much everyone thinks he should invoke, even while trying to make us believe that he has invoked it. He must have been informed that if he invokes the DPA, it’ll somehow hinder one of his own business, or one of his cronies, or some other corrupt reason. America needs to know why Trump is refusing to take this basic step.
