“What the hell is wrong” – Donald Trump goes berserk about his upcoming criminal conviction
With nothing left but closing arguments in his first criminal trial, it’s clear that Donald Trump is very likely about to be criminally convicted on thirty-four felony counts. Even Trump, who’s so far gone that he spent his day off unable to speak coherently during a disastrous speech, has seemingly figured out by now that he’s getting convicted.
To that end, Trump is throwing a complete tantrum on social media, insisting that “I am being prosecuted because a bookkeeper, who I had no contact with, marked down, from a dropdown menu in the ledger, a Legal Expense to a lawyer as “Legal Expense.” What the hell is wrong with that? And, what else would you call it?”
Well okay then, where do we start? For one thing, Trump is being prosecuted because he conspired to commit election fraud and campaign finance fraud by paying off an adult film actress during an election, and committed corporate fraud by disguising the payments as legal expenses. It’s straightforward enough, and the evidence and testimony are overwhelming enough, that the jury should have no difficulty convicting him on all counts.
But Trump’s meltdown does provide insight into the argument that his defense attorneys will likely try to make during their closing arguments on Tuesday. There have been large chunks of this trial during which a senile Trump seemed to have no idea what was going on and/or simply slept through it. But in the few instances where Trump has perked up and thrown an incoherent fit, his attorneys have tried to base the next day’s strategy on Trump’s gibberish. In other words, the defense’s closing argument should indeed be a complete joke that makes it even easier for the jury to convict him.
