“What the f— is going on?” Donald Trump completely loses it as things fall apart for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

America can do better than a twice-impeached monster winning the 2024 presidential election. Yet, Donald Trump again teased this nightmare, telling Republican donors in New Orleans this weekend that his team is “looking at” a new bid “very, very strongly,” according to reporting from the Washington Post. This was right after regurgitating his tired, absurd claim that “[w]e’ve already won two presidential elections.”

Here on planet Earth, not only do we know that Trump’s assertion is the Big Lie, but we have been living for over a year in the comforting reality that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election of 2020, and we are a far better nation as a result. As long as Trump and Trumpism exist, we cannot let our guard down. However, these political perversities are showing signs of fading as America pushes forward.

A new Marquette Law School poll of Wisconsin voters reveals that only 36% of voters in this swing state (which Trump won in 2016 but lost in 2020) have a favorable opinion of Trump, with 57% unfavorable. As CNN notes, these numbers have not moved since August 2021 and October 2021, showing that Trump is not enjoying the bump in popularity that typically follows a President’s tenure.

The American Enterprise Institute’s (AEI) is holding its annual World Forum this week in Sea Island, Georgia. Although AEI is nonpartisan, it is conservative, and its World Forum is considered “an exclusive, ‘off-the-record’ retreat” between “industry titans and GOP megadonors” and “Republican power players,” according to The Center for Public Integrity. This year, a Biden White House official and several Trump critics will be in attendance—and Trump was not on the invitation list, according to a report from CBS News.

Truth Social, Trump’s new social media venture, has fallen in popularity from Apple’s top free app on its February 20 debut to the 84th spot this week. As Daily Dot reveals, Trump’s glitchy launch cannot compete with a Catholic meditation app and a kids’ math homework helper, among many others free downloads. Despite publicly proclaiming Truth Social to be “an incredible success,” Trump has been yelling “What the fuck is going on?” and other obscenities in private, according to The Daily Beast.

The anti-vaccine-mandate trucker protests in Washington, D.C. aren’t faring much better. A week ago, a rally near the Washington Monument to support the truckers attracted only about 20 attendees, according to a report from the Washingtonian. The organizer’s own convoy “fizzled out” when only five trucks arrive in Las Vegas. This week, as The Daily Beast details, poor attendance, broken-down vehicles, and other problems have prevented the protesting truckers from achieving their goal of disrupting the D.C. metro area.

Trump and Trumpism remain serious threats to democracy, but their stock isn’t exactly rallying. Russia’s maniacal invasion of Ukraine serves as a daily reminder of how fortunate the nation—and the world—is that Putin’s Padawan lost the last election. We must continue moving forward.
