What does Lindsey Graham even think he’s doing?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Sometimes one will witness a pattern of behavior that seems to say something. It could be a temper tantrum. It could be rage. Whatever it is, in some cases, the outward behavior is actually just a symptom of something more. In other words, what someone projects as their exterior has little to do with their interior.

A good example of this is Lindsey Graham. The way Graham behaved in the hearings with Judge Jackson was shocking, cruel, hateful, and just plain awful.

And Graham is continuing his unpleasant behavior as this tweet shows:

After Biden’s speech the other day, Graham appeared aggrieved, pissed, and grumpy. And he wrote this in a tweet: “As Ukraine burns, President Biden is talking about Charlottesville and domestic politics. Very sad.”

This tweet was, of course, taken out of context. It was also seemingly without purpose. Graham is an example of the type of behavior I spoke about. I don’t think he’s really angry at President Biden. I am not sure he is really angry at Jackson.

But he’s sure angry about something. A subtle shift has occurred with Lindsey. He appears to crackle with anger every time one sees him. He’s lost any pretense of fairness. He really does seem to be infuriated.

This raises the question of why: What is Graham so infuriated about? What is going on with Lindsey Graham? There can be no denying Graham is selfish, dishonest, and smarmy. But I speak of something more. Graham is acting like society owes him something. The tiniest thing provokes him, and though part of his rage may be manufactured to get on Fox non-news, I do not believe all of it is.

So, what gives? It would be impossible for me to know for sure. But I think it is a simple fact that Lindsey is alone. For the first time — possibly since the beginning of his career — he does not have a powerful man to latch onto.

Perhaps he was trying with Biden, which is why he was so wounded when Biden passed over Judge Childs. Graham has become more than just a public spectacle. He’s become a man on the edge, a man doomed to go down in history with the Taylor-Greenes and the Boeberts unless he gets his act together. It may be too late for that.
