What an idiot!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It is difficult to say these days who is the biggest liar: Kevin McCarthy or Mark Meadows. While Meadows was directly involved in fleecing the American people with the stolen election nonsense, McCarthy was busy in subterfuge all his own. McCarthy is, of course, worried about himself more than anyone else, and his current lies surround his desire to ascend to the highest leadership role in Congress if Republicans retake the Senate in the Midterms. In his bid to do so, McCarthy has officially become the biggest liar in Washington.

As New York Times reported, following the January 6 attack, McCarthy feared that some of his crazier Republican colleagues would “incite violence” against other lawmakers, and he named names. McCarthy would have us believe that this is all “fake news,” but NYT has recordings. In those recordings, McCarthy referred specifically to two of the worst in Congress: Mo Brooks and Matt Gaetz. Brooks spoke at the “Stop the Steal” rally, telling attendees to “take names and kick ass” while Gaetz took to the airwaves to criticize fellow Republicans who failed to tow the Trump line.

McCarthy criticized Gaetz’s behavior, but Steve Scalise (LA) believed Gaetz’s behavior could well be bordering on being illegal. When did illegalities ever stop Republicans? They are the most self-centered, do-nothing, corrupt bunch in Washington. McCarthy claimed that he would put a stop to the behavior, but just like his claims that he would tell Trump to step down, they went nowhere. McCarthy has, of course, since walked back his comments by claiming he never said any of it, but the NYT reporters have tapes. Which are more credible? That doesn’t matter to McCarthy; he continues to lie about the entire situation, and we all know why. McCarthy has designs on the speaker role. Now, he’s playing up to the very people he criticized because he now needs them.

According to NYT, McCarthy now opposes punishment for those involved in inciting violence at the Capitol on January 6. He opposed a resolution to censure Paul Gosar and ignored Mo Brooks’ ridiculous statement that he supported “citizens’ anger directed at dictatorial socialism and its threat to liberty, freedom and the very fabric of American society.” One can only wonder to which American society he refers. Republicans don’t care about society, let alone the people in it. They are the ones who advocated a dictatorship by supporting Donald Trump, and they supported taking away our freedom to vote for whomever we choose. They still support the latter with their voter suppression bills. Yet, they claim Democrats want to take away freedoms. Look, Democrats aren’t perfect, but they certainly care more about what the American people want than these idiots.

In the aftermath of January 6, McCarthy was quoted as saying: “I do not want to look back and think we caused something or we missed something and someone got hurt. I don’t want to play politics with any of that.” Yet, that is exactly what he is doing. McCarthy needs to go, and he can take the rest of the Republican traitors with him.
