WHAT A WASTE

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After all the hoopla and wasting people’s time and taxpayer dollars, Republican senators have revealed what we knew they would get from their investigation of Joe and Hunter Biden: Nothing. What a surprise. Washington Post reported the senators call Hunter Biden’s position with Burisma “problematic” and “awkward” and claims that his position “interfered with efficient execution of policy” during the Obama administration. Hunter’s job did no such thing, or they would have produced documents or other materials that supported those claims. Their biggest “complaint,” if you can call it that, is that Hunter (and other Biden relatives) “cashed in on Joe Biden’s vice presidency.” This is laughable, especially given the Trump administration’s blatant nepotism and wrongdoings.

They included in their report that the impact of Hunter Biden’s job on U.S. policy respecting Ukraine “is not clear.” So, after all this, they have nothing. How many told them before they even began this fool’s errand that Joe and Hunter Biden did nothing wrong? This is no more than the typical Republican response when the truth is staring them in the face. They think they are smarter and more skilled than anyone else, including the intelligence community. As Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said, “Johnson tried to subsidize a foreign attack against the sovereignty of our elections with taxpayer dollars—an attack founded on long-disproven, hardcore right-wing conspiracy theory.”

There you have it: Your tax dollars at waste, and for what? We know that Donald Trump did, in fact, try to interfere in the upcoming election by blackmailing Ukraine President Zelensky. Even though his crooked counterparts in the senate acquitted him despite overwhelming evidence of his guilt, this is their way of retaliating against those who dared to bring truth to the American people. When are people going to realize that Republicans represent only themselves? They certainly do nothing for the poorest state in the nation, Mississippi, but citizens of that state consistently elect Republicans to represent their interests. That, my friends, is “cutting off your nose to spite your face,” not to mention stupid.

Washington Post reported that Trump expected to detail allegations against Hunter Biden in the debate, and if he does so, considering this ludicrous report, he is even stupider than we think. Grassley and Johnson came up with this scheme, and the most they managed to accomplish was outing Johnson as a spreader of Russian disinformation. As the old saying goes, “what is done in the dark always comes to the light.” That certainly proved true in this case.

Senator Ron Wyden, the top Democrat on the Finance Committee, referred to this report as exactly what it is: a “sham investigation that relied in part on Kremlin disinformation.” They should be feeling stupid right about now, but let’s face it: Republicans have no shame. Ultimately, what they accomplished was making their committee look like a complete joke. Republicans continue to do things that will hamper chances of ever creating norms again in American institutions, not that they want to. They will, however, be unable to say one word when Democrats take control and do whatever they want in return, though you can rest assured they will.
