“We’re keeping the good ones”

There is a sound that the GOP is ignoring, and it is coming from their own voters. It is the sound of fury — absolute fury that is gathering, and getting worse and worse with each passing droplet. Let’s start at the beginning. The GOP has always had a fever dream of ending Social security.
As you know, Republicans are humanly incapable of feeling emotions like empathy, concern, or sympathy, and so their strategy now to get these cuts done, is to try to convince people that the American workforce is lazy.
This already doomed strategy is not just aimed at social security. The government cuts, causing thousands to lose their jobs, also are spoken about by Republicans as necessary.
The one mantra that has come out of the GOP is the following: “We’re keeping the good ones.” Whenever another agency is forced to lay off thousands, this strategy is deployed. Put on any Republican state TV network, and chances are that you will see some earnest Republican looking earnestly at the camera, fake Susan Collins concern oozing in their voices, as they talk about all the fired Americans. These explanations almost inevitably end with some variation of:
It’s OK. We’re keeping the GOOD workers, the ones who actually work. It’s an ingenious strategy, I must admit — it’s a clever strategy if one wants to FAIL. First off, the GOP does not know who is getting fired. They have ceded all their power to president Musk, and you can bet he has no idea either.
Most likely, the only one who DOES know who is being fired is a DOGE algorithm, perhaps created by Big Balls or some equally repugnant DOGE human firing robot. I imagine most if not all, the fired people do work hard, harder than hard, and must be pretty upset at the GOP trying desperately to convince the American people that the fired workers are lazy and deserve what they get.
But here’s the thing. Because the GOP IS, AT HEART, cowards incapable of empathy, they may not KNOW what fools they look like to the American people. After all, if one has no morality, it is difficult to relate to those who DO have it.
Therefore, who knows? Maybe the GOP are patting themselves on their tiny chicken rear ends, smugly congratulating themselves for our well they’re doing, as they effusively gush about how great Elon Musk is while ignoring the gathering storm of fury from their own voters.
