We’re in it now

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Before the January 6th public hearings began, I reminded all of you that these hearings are not being tailored to you. You’ve been following all of this, and you already know Donald Trump is guilty. These hearings are aimed at the average nonpartisan American in the middle, who doesn’t regularly follow politics, and vaguely knows Trump did something wrong in relation to January 6th, but needs to see all of the evidence in a concise package.

That’s pretty much proven to be correct. Palmer Report readers already knew 90% of the material that’s being presented in these hearings. But that other 10%, the bombshell details that the committee had been holding onto for these hearings… wow. Just wow.

None of these new bombshells are particularly surprising to anyone who’s been following along. Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman knew in real time that their actions were criminal in nature? Duh. Donald Trump personally instructed Eastman to commit those crimes? No surprise. Eastman sought a pardon before Trump left office? No kidding. These were each predictable. But somehow, strung together in one coherent narrative on Thursday, the whole ended being greater than the sum of the parts.

Today’s hearings also made clear once and for all that Trump and his goons were wasting their time by criminally applying pressure to Mike Pence, when Pence had literally no ability to do anything to help Trump remain in office. If Pence had announced that he didn’t like the election results, even this Supreme Court would have laughed at him and then immediately overruled him. But this somehow makes the whole thing even more stunning. These cretins put the country through all of this for nothing.

Of course this isn’t the kind of crime that is in any way mitigated by incompetence or stupidity, and the real story coming out of today is that these villains absolutely must go down for this. They were attempting to overthrow the government of the United States, just as surely as any terrorist group or foreign enemy who’s ever tried.

In spite of the media fear mongering, there is every indication that the DOJ is all over this, and has been pursuing it for some time. That’s good, because these people have to go to prison. This wasn’t some game. It was what the court of public opinion likes to call treason, and what a court of law calls seditious conspiracy. The DOJ keeps working its way upward with the seditious conspiracy charges, and that has to all the way to the top.
